Thirtysomething Lorelai Gilmore (Lauren Graham) has made her share of mistakes in life,
but she has been doing her best to see that her daughter - and best friend in the world - Rory (Alexis Bledel) doesn't follow
in her footsteps. Rory is more serious than Lorelai, but there are tendencies, especially in the love department, that
clearly indicate she is her mother's daughter.
Lorelai was just sixteen when she became pregnant and made the tough decision to raise her baby alone. This
move- along with her fiercely independant nature- caused a large rift between her and her extremely proper old money parents,
Richard and Emily. Despite all the problems and a rocky start, Lorelai and Rory have made quite a life for themselves- Rory
even got into the prestigious prepschool Chilton. But facing a large tuition bill and having nowhere else to turn Lorelai
is faced to ask her parents for a loan, and so the deal is made. In exchange for Rory's education, her and Lorelai both will
attend weekly Friday night dinners at the grandparents house.
In season four, both Gilmore girls are experiencing major life changes. Surprisingly, Rory chose Yale University,
her grandfather Richard's alma mater, over her longtime dream school, Harvard. In addition to continued bonding time with
Lorelai, Rory stays in contact with her best friend, Lane who attends a local college and pursues her choice of being
a drummer in a rock band, contrary to her conservative Korean mother's wishes. Another constant in Rory's life is the presence
of intense former classmate Paris Geller, who is now her roommate at Yale. Rory also explores the world of college dating,
since Dean, one of her high school love interests, got married, and bad boy Jess has headed west to Venice, California in
search of his father.
Lorelai however sees a bright new dream come true when she and fabulous chef Sookie St. James (Melissa McCarthy),
her best friend, finally open their own inn. Now happily married with a new baby, Sookie must divide her time between the
inn and being a mommy. Meanwhile, Lorelai's longstanding friendship with Luke Danes, the gruffly charming owner of the
local diner, only got stronger after his failed brush with marriage.

SEASON FIVE:
No one in the ideal town of Stars Hollow ever thought they would be using
the words Rory and "homewrecker" in the same sentence. But now they are. Last season, everyone's favorite Ivy league girl
was caught in the throes of passion with her former heartthrob, Dean- the very married Dean. Devestated that her daughter
is making a colossal mistake, Lorelai is crushed, and their mother/daughter bond experiences it's first real fracture.
Meanwhile Lorelai has her own issues. For one thing, she's walking that
precarious friend/lover line with Luke. And compounded with the stress of getting her new inn off the ground, Lorelai must
also deal with getting her sparring parents back into the same house.

spoilers~!!
Kathleen Wilhoite, who plays Jess's mother
Liz in guest episodes, can be seen on USA Networks new show The 4400. She has a recurring role as the girlfriend
of one of the abducted.
Creator Amy Sherman Palladino confirmed in TV Guide
this week that "I'm With Her had barely taken its last breath" when she swooped "in like a vulture" and got
David Sutcliffe to reprise his role as Rorys dad Christopher for seven episodes
next season. He'll return to mess up the long awaited romance between Lukd and Loreali. Palladino called him "Complication
Guy" but we like to refer to him as, as TV Guide so excellently put it, "the Guy Whose Ruining Everything."
Sadly Milo Ventimiglia will not reprise his role
of Jess any longer, but you can catch American Dreams on NBC this fall to get your Milo fix. He'll once again
play a rebelious bad boy, his character Chris moves in next door to the Pryor family and he becomes a love interest for the
main character Meg. Check out the American Dreams page for more info on the show.
Keep a look out for reruns of Gilmore Girls and
Smallville this fall on ABC Family. Starting Oct. 5, the show will air reruns twice a day:
weekdays at 11am and 5pm, and weekends at 11am and 3pm.
Jared Padalecki (Dean) is in the final round
with three other guys for the role of Clark Kent in the new Superman movie franchise. We'll let you know
as soon as we know more.
